SentinelAudio — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SentinelAudio ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use the SentinelAudio Android application. SentinelAudio is a personal audio-recording tool: you use it to record audio in your own environment, store those recordings in your own Google Drive, and optionally transcribe them. Please read this policy together with the Google Play and Google Account terms that also apply to your use of the app.

1. Information we collect and process

• Audio recordings. The app records audio through your device's microphone at your direction. These recordings are saved to your device and uploaded to your own Google Drive. We do not keep copies of your recordings on our servers.
• Google account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier (and basic profile information such as your email) so the app can (a) upload files to your Google Drive and (b) identify your account for your subscription and monthly transcription allowance.
• Subscription and usage information. We process your subscription status (via Google Play) and a count of how many seconds of audio you have transcribed in the current month, linked to your Google account identifier, to enforce your plan's allowance.
• Advertising identifiers. In the free version, our third-party advertising partners may collect your device advertising identifier and related device/usage information to show ads (see "Advertising" below).
• Device permissions. The app requests microphone, notification, and background-execution permissions in order to record. It does not collect your contacts, location, photos, or other unrelated data.

2. How recordings and transcription work

Storage in your own Google Drive. Recordings are uploaded to a SentinelAudio folder in your Google Drive. They remain under your control and ownership at all times.

On-device transcription (free). If you use the standard transcription option, the audio is processed on your device and is not sent to us or any third party.

Premium AI transcription (cloud). When you choose Premium AI transcription for a recording, that recording's audio is uploaded to our processing server and sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the transcript. The audio is used solely to produce your transcript, and the temporary copy on our server is deleted immediately after processing. We do not retain your audio or transcripts on our servers, and we do not use them for advertising or to train machine-learning models. The resulting transcript is saved back to your own Google Drive.

3. Google Drive access

SentinelAudio uses the Google Drive drive.file permission. This limits the app strictly to files it creates (your recordings and transcripts). The app cannot see or access any of your other Google Drive files.

4. How we use information

• To record audio and upload it to your Google Drive.
• To provide on-demand transcription, including Premium cloud transcription.
• To manage your subscription and enforce your monthly transcription allowance.
• To display advertising in the free version of the app.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the app's core functionality.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your recordings, transcripts, or Google account content with advertisers.

5. Advertising

The free version of SentinelAudio displays advertisements provided by third-party advertising partners, such as Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, these partners may collect and use certain device and usage information, including your device advertising identifier (for example, the Google Advertising ID), device type, and general (non-precise) usage data. This information is handled by the advertising providers under their own privacy policies (for example, Google's policies at policies.google.com/privacy).

We do not share your recordings, transcripts, or Google Drive content with advertisers. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier at any time in your device settings. Users with a paid subscription do not see ads.

6. Third-party services

We rely on the following providers to deliver the service:

• Google — Google Sign-In, Google Drive (storage), Google Play (subscriptions and billing), the Gemini API (Premium transcription), and Google AdMob (advertising in the free version).
• Our hosting provider — used to run the transcription server that briefly relays your audio to the Gemini API. Audio is held only transiently and deleted after processing.

7. Data retention and deletion

• Recordings and transcripts live in your own Google Drive and are controlled by you.
• To help manage space, the app automatically deletes recordings older than 20 days from the SentinelAudio folder in your Drive.
• Temporary copies of audio on our processing server are deleted immediately after a transcription completes.
• Monthly transcription usage counters reset at the start of each calendar month.

8. Data security

Audio sent for Premium transcription is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and processed transiently. Access to our processing server is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information we handle.

9. Your choices and rights

• You can delete your recordings and transcripts directly from your Google Drive at any time.
• You can sign out of Google in the app to stop Drive uploads and cloud transcription.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription through Google Play.
• You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings, or subscribe to remove ads.
• You can uninstall the app to stop all recording and processing.

10. Your responsibility for recordings

You are responsible for using SentinelAudio lawfully. Laws on recording audio and on obtaining the consent of other people vary by country and region. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have any consent required before recording others.

11. Children's privacy

SentinelAudio is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can address it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, within the app.
